For the second straight game, junior Blair White grabbed the passes and attention.

With seemingly every receiver on MSU's roster nursing injuries of one form or another, former walk-on White became QB Brian Hoyer's go-to target for the second straight game. The Saginaw native caught seven passes for 164 yards and made critical plays when the Spartans needed someone to hang on to the ball down the stretch.

"Really, we were running out of receivers, and some guys had to step up," said Hoyer, who was without Mark Dell (knee) entering the game and lost both B.J. Cunningham and Keshawn Martin during Saturday's win. "Whitey was there, and he was the main guy. He had some big catches, especially on that last drive."

White's two grabs on the Spartans' victory-clinching quest easily were the game's biggest. He started the drive by taking a slant pass from Hoyer 20 yards, sparking the no-huddle offense with just under 90 seconds to play.

Then on third down after a pair of incompletions, White again broke free in a seam down the left side. His 32-yard catch put MSU down to the Badgers' 31 and in range for Swenson's final field goal.

"They were in man coverage with a safety over the top," White said. "I gave my guy a shake and broke open, and Brian made a great throw."

White has 307 yards on 11 catches and a TD in his last two games and 508 yards for the season.
